Window Seat

99.9% of the time, you’ll find me in the window seat.

Sure, part of it is practical. It gives me a little extra room for my neck pillow, and somehow I always manage to get a better nap. But that’s not the real reason.

The window seat is where every trip begins for me.

As the plane starts its descent, I get my first glimpse of a place I’ve never known. The streets, the rivers, the rooftops, the mountains. Before I even step off the plane, I’m already taking it all in. No notifications. No distractions. Just me, my thoughts, and the excitement of what’s waiting below.

It’s also a quiet reminder to be grateful.

Grateful that I arrived safely. Grateful for a body that lets me wander unfamiliar streets for hours. Grateful for the freedom and privilege to explore places beyond the one I call home.

And when it’s time to leave, I find myself looking out that same window again.

I think about the people I met, the conversations that stayed with me, the history I learned, the places that surprised me, and the little moments that never make it onto social media but somehow become the ones I remember most.

Every destination leaves me with something I didn’t have before—a new perspective, a deeper appreciation, and a heart that’s a little fuller than when I arrived.

To most people, it’s just a seat.

To me, the window seat is where every adventure begins… and where I quietly reflect before carrying a piece of that place home with me.

Now, the only question is… Where to Next? With Diane 😊
